Wedding Dress Part 2

A year ago, 22 friends and I embarked on a journey to get fit, eat better, and improve our health.  We entitled this journey "The Wedding Dress Weight Loss Journey" because our reward would be to look fabulous in pretty dresses~!  I made a pledge to my friends that at the end of our 1 year anniversary, I would take our photos and we would celebrate this moment together.  These photos were taken at Token Creek in Deforest, WI.

Read my previous blog journey here on why we went on this journey:

April 2012
I started a private Facebook group with 22 of my friends.  Our goal was to give each other support and post/comment on topics that we needed help with.  Many people contributed information on things that worked for them, things that did not work, diets they've tried, success and failure stories etc ... Along the way, we encouraged one another and tried our best to improve ourselves by reading what others were trying.  It was a lesson in progress.

April 2013
We were originally planning to take photos in April but since we had a late spring here in Madison, we opted to move it to August.

August 3, 2013
We got to Token Creek around 11 a.m.  We finished taking photos around 12:30 p.m.  It wasn't a hot day, but I was wearing my wedding dress and I was hot taking photos. Haha, note to self, in the future don't model and be the photographer also.  Hehe.

These are my wonderful friends: Kayla, me, Jamie, Nou, and Pahoua.

Hmong Newborn

hmong newborn, hmong baby, hmong babies

I just absolutelylove this picture I took of Baby Peyton! This is my friend Kaying's son at 7 days old. He is such a darling and cutie! I hope to take more pictures of this little guy soon. It was a pleasure taking pictures of him!

I really love the colors of the Hmong Nyias ... it's so vibrant and colorful. For those of you who don't know what this is, it's what Hmong women use to carry their babies on their backs. Kind of like those baby slings you see today but this has straps you tie around your body. It's been used for centuries. Passed down from mother to daughter when a baby is born.

Fun with photos

I've been taking a lot of photos lately. I got my hair colored a few weeks ago. This was the intense color it was back then. Now that it's been a few weeks, it's not quite as dramatic anymore.

Smiling on a Saturday

A lot of people ask me why I don't smile and show my teeth. Well, here it is a pic of me smiling and showing my teeth! I took this on my iPhone today. The quality is not that good due to my room lighting. Nevertheless, I'm not quite sure why I don't show my teeth much. When I laugh, I still sometimes cover my mouth with my hand. Why? I don't know ... habit, I guess. My aunt once told me that whenever I talk, I seem to smile to a lot so it makes me appear friendly.  Really? I hope I am able to accomplish that!

I also don't curl my hair much except for days where I feel like it. That's like probably 3-4 times a year. Today was one of those days I felt like it. Believe it or not, I have naturally wavy hair. Yup. I do. During my younger years I had really nice long shiny thick black hair.  Not sure what happened over the years but now if it dries naturally after a shower, it is wavy almost like a perm.  It is too monstrous to take care of so I usually flat iron straighten it to be more managable.

I'll tell you a funny story. One day I woke up late for work so I didn't have time to flat iron my hair after a shower. Everyone at work that day asked me if I got a perm. When I replied to them that it was my natural hair, they looked at me with disbelief like "Whattttt, you are asian. How is it that you have curly hair?"  LOL. They thought I was just playing with them. The entire day at work, people kept asking me the same question over and over. I finally got tired of it and replied, "Yup, it's a perm."  LOL then no more questions. hahahahaha.. Then the next day, I'd go back to work with straight hair. hahahaha!

Bollywood and Goth photos with my sisters

I had such a fun day with my sisters (Song, Myra, mom, cousin Katherina, sister in law Nancy)!!!!!!! My sister Song went to India last year for a business trip and bought us all beautiful indian sarees. We didn't have the traditional Indian jewelry, so we had to improvise.  My sister Song was our stylist! She glammed us up for this photo shoot.  She did a great job!!!!!

I took these photos with my Nikon Nikkor 85 mm f/1.4G lens. I just absolutely love the bokeh!!!!!! (the tiny circles / particles).

This is a picture of my cousin Katherina. She's stunning!!!!

I love this shot!

Millenium Park

I finally found some time to post up some pictures we took when we went to visit Millenium Park in Chicago back on April 8th, 2012.  It was the first time I've ever visited this park. I've been to Chicago many times and seen a lot of tourist attractions but finally decided to make a road trip just for this purpose.

We paid for underground parking here. It was really expensive. $24 per hour.  We could have parked further but would have had to walk a distance to get here.  The only thing I wish I would have had more time for was to go visit the Art Institute.

Picture of me with the "egg".  The metal egg behind me kind of reminds me of T-1000, the bad guy who could morph into anything, from Terminator 2.

March is almost over

Wow, time sure does fly by fast when you're having a good time. I can surely say March has been an interesting month for me.  I've been super busy at work as well as getting back into my photography side business. I bought a new Nikon 85mm f/1.4G lens that I absolutely love, love, love!!! I just got it two weeks ago but been so busy I haven't had much time to test it out much. I'll take more pics soon and share some tutorials.

I don't normally splurge on expensive stuff but when it comes to my personal interests, ummmm yes I do like to have the BEST!
