Bollywood and Goth photos with my sisters

I had such a fun day with my sisters (Song, Myra, mom, cousin Katherina, sister in law Nancy)!!!!!!! My sister Song went to India last year for a business trip and bought us all beautiful indian sarees. We didn't have the traditional Indian jewelry, so we had to improvise.  My sister Song was our stylist! She glammed us up for this photo shoot.  She did a great job!!!!!

I took these photos with my Nikon Nikkor 85 mm f/1.4G lens. I just absolutely love the bokeh!!!!!! (the tiny circles / particles).

This is a picture of my cousin Katherina. She's stunning!!!!

I love this shot!

Millenium Park

I finally found some time to post up some pictures we took when we went to visit Millenium Park in Chicago back on April 8th, 2012.  It was the first time I've ever visited this park. I've been to Chicago many times and seen a lot of tourist attractions but finally decided to make a road trip just for this purpose.

We paid for underground parking here. It was really expensive. $24 per hour.  We could have parked further but would have had to walk a distance to get here.  The only thing I wish I would have had more time for was to go visit the Art Institute.

Picture of me with the "egg".  The metal egg behind me kind of reminds me of T-1000, the bad guy who could morph into anything, from Terminator 2.

My hubby and me - The tulips were really lovely and vibrant this time of year.

Hmong clothes for a day

Today I had a lot of fun with my fellow nam tsev (sisters in Christ) from Victory Hmong Alliance Church here in Madison, WI.  We went to the arboretum to take photos and then we went back to church to eat pho that the txiv tsev (brothers in Christ) made for us.  Everyone wore Hmong clothes to celebrate our heritage and roots :-)

I was kind of nervous because I haven't tried on my Hmong clothes in three years.  I'm so glad it still fit! OMG! haha ... As we get older, it is good idea to take photos of ourselves in Hmong clothes.  When I was younger, I didn't like to wear Hmong clothes at all because they were heavy, bulky, and hot.  I have very few photos of me in Hmong clothes.  Over the years, I learned to embrace my desire for Hmong clothes.  Thanks to modern day Hmong fashion, there's a variety of tribal outfits to choose from. I had this outfit custom made for me at the Hmong International Market in St. Paul.

I am Green Hmong.  Maybe someday soon I'll have to redo my photos wearing traditional Green Hmong clothes.  The skirts are absolutely beautiful and the designs are just simply amazing.

Here are some photo samples of our fun day! Many thanks to my husband for photographing us on this special Mother's Day occasion.

Kristy and me - I really liked Kristy's outfit!  She said her hat is native to her husband's Her clan. It is really stunning!

Me

Nam Phoumee and me - She's an amazing person and one of the sweetest women that you'll ever meet. She's been like an older sister/mentor to me.

Pahoua - I loved this classic pose too :-)

March is almost over

Wow, time sure does fly by fast when you're having a good time. I can surely say March has been an interesting month for me.  I've been super busy at work as well as getting back into my photography side business. I bought a new Nikon 85mm f/1.4G lens that I absolutely love, love, love!!! I just got it two weeks ago but been so busy I haven't had much time to test it out much. I'll take more pics soon and share some tutorials.

I don't normally splurge on expensive stuff but when it comes to my personal interests, ummmm yes I do like to have the BEST!

Testing out my new Nikon D7000

I hired my niece Ashley to help be my model for the day. Afterwards, I treated her out to eat sushi and bento at Takumi in Madison, WI.  We took these photos at the UW Arboretum on a semi-cloudy June day around 6 p.m. in the evening.  This was taken with a Nikkor 50mm AF-S  f/1.4G lens.
